Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of CleanMail, an iOS application operated by Calibrate LLC (“we,” “our,” or “us”). By creating an account or using CleanMail, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use CleanMail.

1. The Service

CleanMail is an AI-powered email digest application currently available on iOS. It reads emails from Gmail senders you have explicitly selected, generates summary digests using Anthropic’s Claude API, and creates corresponding events on your Google Calendar.

CleanMail is a service of Calibrate LLC, registered in the State of Illinois, United States.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use CleanMail. If you are between 13 and 18, you represent that you have your parent or legal guardian’s permission to use the service and to agree to these Terms. CleanMail is not intended for use by anyone under 13.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your Google account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

3. Subscriptions and Billing

CleanMail is offered as a single monthly subscription at $6.99 per month. There is no free tier.

Free trial. New subscribers receive a 14-day free trial. A valid payment card is required to start the trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your subscription automatically converts to a paid subscription at $6.99 per month and your card is charged at that time. You can cancel at any time during the trial from within the app or via the Stripe customer portal; canceling before the trial ends prevents any charge.

Billing. Subscriptions are billed in advance via Stripe at the beginning of each billing period. Your subscription renews automatically each month unless you cancel.

Payment processing. All payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not store or have access to your full payment card information. By subscribing, you agree to Stripe’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Cancellation. You may cancel your subscription at any time from within the app or via the Stripe customer portal linked from the app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you retain access until the period ends, after which your access to CleanMail’s features ends.

Pricing changes. We may change subscription pricing with at least 30 days’ notice via email and an in-app notice. Continued use after a price change takes effect constitutes acceptance.

4. Refund Policy

Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and prevents future charges. If you cancel during your free trial before it ends, you will not be charged. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods or for time elapsed before cancellation.

We may, at our sole discretion, issue refunds in cases of:

• Billing errors or duplicate charges.
• Service unavailability lasting more than 7 consecutive days.
• Extenuating circumstances on a case-by-case basis.

Refund requests should be sent to support@cleanmailapp.com within 30 days of the disputed charge. We aim to respond to refund requests within 5 business days.

5. Google Account Access

By connecting your Google account, you authorize CleanMail to access your Gmail and Google Calendar data as described in our Privacy Policy. You may revoke this access at any time via Google account permissions or by deleting your CleanMail account.

Revoking Google access prevents CleanMail from generating new digests or syncing new calendar events. Existing digest history and calendar events created prior to revocation remain in place until you delete your account.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Attempt to access other users’ accounts, data, or digests.
• Use CleanMail to process emails containing unlawful content.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the app.
• Use the service in a way that could damage, disable, or impair its operation.
• Use the service to violate the privacy of any third party.
• Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit access to CleanMail without our written permission.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts found to be in violation of these Acceptable Use rules.

7. AI-Generated Content

CleanMail uses Anthropic’s Claude API to generate digest summaries and extract event details from emails. AI-generated content may occasionally contain inaccuracies, omissions, or misinterpretations.

You are responsible for verifying important information. CleanMail is a productivity aid, not an authoritative source. Critical information — appointments, deadlines, legal notices — should always be confirmed against the original email.

We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI-generated content.

8. Service Availability

We provide CleanMail on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every email from your selected senders will be captured in a digest.

Scheduled maintenance, third-party service outages (Google, Anthropic, Supabase, Stripe), or unforeseen technical issues may cause temporary service disruption. We will use reasonable efforts to communicate planned downtime in advance.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CleanMail and Calibrate LLC disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Calibrate LLC and its officers, employees, agents, and contractors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

• Missed emails, appointments, or deadlines.
• Errors in calendar events created by the service.
• Loss of data, revenue, or business opportunities.
• Damages arising from third-party service outages.

Our total cumulative liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to CleanMail shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) $100 USD.

11. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time via Settings → Delete Account in the app. Account deletion is immediate and irreversible.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at our sole discretion, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms or if continued provision of the service to you would expose us to legal or operational risk.

Upon termination, your right to use CleanMail ceases immediately. Sections 9, 10, 12, 13, and 14 survive termination.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

13. Dispute Resolution

Before filing a formal legal claim, you agree to attempt to resolve the dispute informally by contacting support@cleanmailapp.com. We will make a good-faith effort to resolve the matter within 30 days.

If informal resolution fails, any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of CleanMail shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois. You consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

14. Intellectual Property

CleanMail, including its name, logo, design, and software, is the property of Calibrate LLC and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right or license to use Calibrate LLC’s trademarks or branding outside of normal use of the app.

You retain all rights to the content of your emails, calendar events, and any data you provide to the service.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email and by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of CleanMail after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

If you do not agree to a material change, your sole remedy is to terminate your account.
